Kes-Vir Swimwear Fit Guide

Kes Vir: Getting the Right Fit

Kes-Vir swimwear is designed to look and feel like regular swimwear while providing discreet protection for bowel incontinence in the water. Waterproof integrated briefs contains accidents so you can swim confidently.

To get the best performance from your Kes-Vir garment, correct fit is essential.

How should Kes-Vir swimwear fit?

Your Kes-Vir swimwear should fit snugly so measuring accurately is important.

A good fit means:

  • The garment fits close to the body with no gapping around the legs or waist

  • You can move freely without pinching or digging in

  • The leg openings create a gentle seal against the skin

  • The waistband sits securely without rolling or slipping

If the garment is too loose, it may not contain accidents effectively. If it’s too tight, it may be uncomfortable and difficult to put on.

We recommend watching our video guide on how to measure before starting.

Choosing the right size Adaptive Swimwear

Each product on our website has its own individual size chart. Once you have taken your measurements, simply select your chosen product and refer to the relevant size chart to find your recommended size. Where your measurements fall across two sizes, we suggest choosing the smaller size to ensure your swimwear fits securely and can be properly adjusted for the best performance.

Tips for dressing

If you are a carer looking for adaptive swimwear where assisted changing is required, we recommend choosing a wrap design, as these styles open out flat on a table for easier dressing.

We also offer pull-on styles for those who are able to dress independently.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Does incontinence swimwear work for diarrhoea?

Kes-Vir swimwear is designed to help contain solid accidents. Many customer buy our swimwear for both diarrhoea and urine, however we can not guarantee no exchange of liquid.

The best way to check if our swimwear is suitable for your condition and needs is to test wearing them in a bath before entering a pool area. This will help you to feel more confident and secure when you enter the water for the first time.

Our swimwear features a discreet internal waterproof lining and secure adjustable leg seals that work together to reduce the risk of leakage into the pool. While no garment can guarantee 100% prevention in every situation, Kes-Vir swimwear provides reliable protection for most bowel incontinence.

This makes it suitable for:

  • Individuals with bowel incontinence

  • Children and adults with medical conditions affecting continence

  • Special schools, hydrotherapy sessions, and therapy pools

  • Care homes and community swimming programs

For severe or frequent diarrhoea, we recommend consulting a healthcare professional.

Does incontinence swimwear hold urine?

Kes-Vir swimwear is designed to contain bowel accidents, however customers with Urine Incontinence do wear our swimwear for added confidence.

In the pool, we cannot guarantee that no water exchange will occur, as every condition and body shape is different. However, our swimwear includes integrated waterproof pants that are adjustable to protect against urine running down the leg when entering and exiting the pool, helping with confidence.

Unlike standard swimwear, Kes-Vir garments feature a waterproof inner pant that is fully integrated and discreet, so it does not poke out from the outside. Unlike other brands adjustable elements allow the swimwear to be fitted securely to your body for the best protection.

We recommend:

  • Emptying your bladder before entering the pool. Chlorine is present to handle small leaks, which are generally unnoticeable if they slowly enter the water.

  • Do not use incontinence pads in the pool. There is no product that absorbs urine without also absorbing pool water, and pads can swell or break down, affecting pool filters.

Can Kes-Vir swimwear be used without a nappy or pad?

Yes — in the water, Kes-Vir swimwear is designed to be worn without disposable swim nappies or pads, making it more comfortable, discreet, and environmentally friendly.

Before or after swimming (when on land) you may still choose to include regular continence protection such as a pad, depending on individual needs.

Is Kes-Vir swimwear suitable for children and adults?

Yes. Kes-Vir offers swimwear designed for:

  • Babies and toddlers

  • Children with additional needs

  • Teenagers

  • Adults

This makes it ideal for families, carers, schools, and healthcare settings.

Is Kes-Vir swimwear discreet?

Absolutely. Kes-Vir swimwear is designed to look like regular swimwear, not medical equipment.

Most people won’t know the difference, which helps promote dignity, confidence, and independence in the water.

How do I wash Kes-Vir swimwear?

To keep your Kes-Vir garment in the best condition:

  • Rinse in cold water after use

  • Hand wash with mild detergent

  • Do not bleach

  • Do not tumble dry

  • Lay flat to dry away from direct heat or sunlight

Proper care will extend the life and performance of your swimwear.

Is Kes-Vir swimwear suitable for hydrotherapy?

Yes — Kes-Vir swimwear is widely used in:

  • Hydrotherapy pools

  • Rehabilitation sessions

  • Special schools

  • Therapy centres

  • Care homes

It allows individuals with incontinence to access water-based therapy safely and confidently. We do recommend you considering which style you choose if you use a hoist to enter the pool. It is important that your swimwear is not caught in the hoist as this may tear the swimwear.
